Momentum BMW Southwest:
The Car Dealership that Gives Back
“What’s going on here?”
is a question often asked by Momentum BMW customers. Walking onto the showroom floor, they are more likely than not to be met with building crews constructing elaborate stages, erecting sturdy runways, and setting up impromptu catering stations. The car dealership can transform itself into a fashion show, an auction house, a nightclub, and even a dining hall.
But it’s just another charity event at Houston’s largest BMW dealership, located on the Southwest Freeway. While salesmen accustomed to the confusion go about the business of selling cars, crews transform the dealership into whatever the charity requires. Customers, however, have rarely seen anything like it. And they can’t help wondering … what’s going on.
The answers can be varied. Momentum BMW’s 12,000-square-foot showroom is both expansive and intimate. Built as three intersecting ovals, it has plenty of room for any charity function. In the past two decades, it’s been used for functions benefitting the Arthritis Foundation, the South Texas Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Cattlemen’s Foundation, the American Cancer Society, David Carr’s Race for the Kids, and many others.
Momentum BMW also participates in a myriad of charities that don’t have organized gatherings at the dealership. Currently, Momentum BMW contributes to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is heavily involved with Toys for Tots. As well, the dealership generously donates a car every year to the Houston Children’s Charity and supports The Shul of Bellaire. If that were not enough, Momentum BMW is also involved with Be an Angel Children’s Charity, Child Advocates, and other worthy charities.
Momentum BMW has been guided for years by the goal of giving back to the community, and longtime customers are aware of the dealership’s contributions. Currently captained by General Manager, Tommy Kuranoff, a native Houstonian and Katy high school graduate, this father of a toddler has taken up the ongoing charity work within the community. Kuranoff’s pet project is Houston Children’s Charity.
New Car Director, Cliff Miller, father of three and also from the Houston area, also holds Houston Children’s Charity near to his heart. For dog lover and owner of three pugs Mai Nguyen, the Pre-Owned Director, Pug Hearts, a foundation that finds home for abandoned dogs, is her charity of choice. New Car Sales Manager, Max White, also a recent father, is involved in Houston Children’s Charity as well. All three use the power of Momentum BMW to get behind their charities.
As the dealership readies for renovation and new construction, the design of the multi-purpose showroom floor will always be front and center. Longtime loyal customers know that will mean frenetic activity while buying their BMWs or having them serviced. But then, they’ve already come to know what to expect at this dedicated dealership.
For those new to Momentum, the refrain, “What’s going on here?” is met with smiles and pride. The answer may vary, but the result, community building, is always the same.
“Our top priorities at Momentum BMW/MINI are employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction. Myself and the team strive to deliver a true BMW experience to every single customer. Along with that, we believe it’s important to give back to the
community that supports us so much.”
