CKW Luxe is proud to announce that Dr. Anne Shen Chao is our honoree for the Cosmic Star Award. This award goes to a philanthropic woman who is inspiring and transforming lives through education or cultural awareness.

Dr. Anne Chao is an inspiring and dedicated educator committed to her students and her community. Dr. Chao teaches as an adjunct lecturer in the history department at Rice University in Houston. She also teaches as an adjunct lecturer in The Program in Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities, which imbues students with an understanding of human well-being. Not only does Dr. Chao teach this admirable trait to her students, she lives it. As Manager of the Asian American Archive, Dr. Chao helps to foster a deeper understanding of Houston’s immigrant history demonstrating her dedication to the city’s Asian American Community. Along with the many areas of Rice University Dr. Chao supports, she and her husband, Albert Chao, endowed the T.T. and W.F. Chao Center for Asian Studies. Her support and admiration of the arts extends to her giving of her time in a variety of capacities to many foundations and boards, including the Dunhuang Foundation and the Houston Ballet, to name only a few.
