Dr. Sippi Khurana is a Rheumatologist, Immunologist, and Internist and is board certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. She has been a clinical assistant professor for Texas A&M Health Science Center and Baylor College of Medicine. Prior to holding these positions, Dr. Khurana owned, and was the practicing physician of, Allergy and Rheumatology Specialists of Houston. She is also part of a task force with Houston Methodist to assist in bringing a Center of Excellence in Immunology to the Texas Medical Center.
Dr. Khurana is a graduate of the highly competitive accelerated six-year BA/MD program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where she was named Intern of the Year and received an award for excellence in geriatric medicine. Dr. Khurana went on to complete a combined Immunology, Allergy, and Rheumatology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. While doing so, she served as Chief Fellow.
Dr. Khurana is married to the love of her life, Ajay Khurana. Together, she and Ajay have two wonderful children: Shaan and Seva. Wife and mother are the titles Dr. Khurana cherishes above all others.
As a native Houstonian, Dr. Khurana is incredibly proud of this great city, and it is her honor to be part of numerous effective organizations that serve it daily. As such, she is a founding member of, and contributor to, the Swadesh Khurana Endowed Fellowship in Stroke Care at The Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. The fellowship was established in 2008 by the Khurana family in loving memory of Dr. Khurana’s mother-in-law. As well, Dr. Khurana sits on the board of trustees for St. Francis Episcopal School and is chair of the advancement committee and serves on the leadership board of directors for The Houston Symphony, UNICEF Southwest Region as vice chair, Pratham USA, the MA Foundation, KNOWAutism, the Arthritis Foundation, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, YES Prep Public Schools, and the March of Dimes.
As an active member of so many organizations, Dr. Khurana has chaired, or been honorary chair of, a variety of fundraisers in the city for almost a decade. The most recent include the Houston Chronicle's Best Dressed Luncheon benefiting the March of Dimes, the UNICEF Gala, the 2018 Crime Stoppers of Houston Gala, The Health Museum Houston Gala, Pratham USA Houston Holiday Luncheon, ABC13 CCFA Winter Ball for Women of Distinction, and Partners in Nursing Luncheon for UT Health Science Center at Houston. In October of 2019, Dr. Khurana served as the honorary chair of the 2019 Crime Stoppers of Houston Gala.
In gratitude for her service to Houston in so many capacities, Dr. Khurana has received numerous honors. Her past honors include being named an H Texas Magazine Top Doc for three consecutive years, being the 2016 Medical Honoree for the Arthritis Foundation, receiving the John Connor Humanitarian Award from Operation Smile, receiving the WholeLife Community Honoree Award from The Women’s Home, receiving the Excellence in the South Asian Community Award from the South Asian Chamber of Commerce, being named a 2016 Fashion Icon by The Women’s Home, being an honoree at the Mother's Day Soirée held by LCA Houston magazine, being named one of the Houston Chronicle’s Best Dressed 2016, being named one of ABC13’s Women of Distinction 2017, being named one of H Texas Magazine’s 25 Beautiful Houstonians 2017, being featured as a Bethie’s Woman Crush, being named a 2017 Outstanding Community Honoree by Recipe for Success, and being a 2017 Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame Inductee. Her 2018 honors include receiving the Inaugural Humanitarian Award from KNOWAutism, being a Hats Off to Mothers honoree for Easter Seals, being an honoree for ARS Lyrica Houston, and being named an Altruism Angel for Nicole’s Garden. In 2019, Dr. Khurana received the Hall of Fame Award from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and was named a Woman of Substance by the Mission of Yahweh.
Because of her devotion to Houston, Dr. Khurana has contributed greatly to its continued betterment and success.
It is for all the reasons mentioned above, and many more, that Dr. Sippi Khurana has been named a Top 20 Inspiring Woman Impact Maker for 2020.
