About HGOco

HGOco is a unique initiative of Houston Grand Opera that creates new works and programs in collaboration with numerous community partners all joined by a caring and giving spirit. Simply put, HGOco connects the company to its neighbors by telling stories in words and music. Through it, Houstonians can experience concerts of new operas and songs and engage with Opera to Go! at public performances in parks and libraries or on tours to schools. It is believed each experience will create hope, love, and positivity for all involved.

Educators are offered a wealth of opportunities through HGOco to enhance their knowledge of opera and bring the excitement of live performances to their students.

Believing opera should be available to everyone, HGOco offers families a variety of performances throughout the city designed to inspire and engage Houstonians of all ages by creating unique works based on the city’s stories through The Song of Houston initiative. Everyone is invited to experience Houston in a variety of ways, from free family performances at the Heinen Theatre and Miller Outdoor Theatre to new works inspired by Houston’s vibrant communities.

HGOco appreciates the kindness and generosity of all our donors in joining with us to create our outstanding programs.

Connie Kwan-Wong Foundation and CKW LUXE underwrote the first Houston Grand Opera’s storybook, The Armadillo’s Dream. All proceeds go to HGOco–Houston Grand Opera’s unique initiative that explores making opera relevant to its changing audience by connecting the company with our community through collaboration.
