As I write, I find myself feeling grateful for many things. First, I am grateful to be publishing our seventh anniversary issue. There was a time in my life when publishing a magazine was a dream. Seven years later it is a reality I am proud of. CKW LUXE magazine has accomplished everything I hoped it would and much more thanks to our loyal contributors and supporters. I am grateful to be able to continue to offer our readers inspiring and uplifting articles that keep hope and positivity alive.

I am also grateful for everyone in our community who works so hard to improve it and the lives of the people living in it. Our 2022 Top 20 Impact Makers are stellar examples. I would like to thank them for their industrious work and for embodying Caring, Kindness, and Wisdom, the precepts upon which CKW LUXE is based. These hard-working men and women who give selflessly of their time and talent to important organizations were honored at an elegant event at the luxurious St. Regis Houston on Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Congratulations to them all for being our 2022 honorees. You will find their stories within the pages of this issue. I invite you to read them and be inspired by them. 

This year, CKW LUXE became a certifying organization for the Presidential Volunteer Award, which allows us to bestow this unique honor on volunteers of all ages. I am so grateful for this opportunity and proud to be a part of something so meaningful. Each volunteer, including children and families, will accumulate a truly impressive number of service hours through our volunteer opportunities in order to qualify for the award. In so doing they will receive a Presidential Volunteer Award certificate, a pin or medallion, a congratulatory letter from the president, and a  CKW LUXE Making a Difference Award certificate.

I would also like to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped our community throughout the pandemic. Health-care workers, teachers, civic workers, and countless volunteers continued to provide invaluable services that kept us safe during such a difficult time.

Thanks to them, the spread of COVID-19 is receding and our lives are beginning to return to normal.

Finally, I am grateful for having been given the opportunity to spend so much time with my wonderful family during the past two years.

Though the circumstances of the pandemic have been difficult for everyone, and tragic for many, I will always cherish the memories we made together during this time.

In closing, I want to encourage us all to continue to be grateful every day for being part of a caring community that values every individual in it, and, as always, I want to thank you all for believing in CKW LUXE.
